Whirinaki Trax is a family run
operation. We have a strong commitment to the area and have a background
in local education and community groups. We offer three products:
- A guided walking
experience in the Whirinaki Forest Park among the native
podocarp bush. The walks can be tailored to suit fitness and
interest levels and range from one hour through to four hours in
duration. A picnic style lunch and snacks are included, as is
the commentary on points of interest during the trip out to the
forest. Time permitting, we travel to vantage points during the
trip and explain local geology and land-use.
- A pick up and drop off
service for independent travellers. This is for customers who
require access to the forest, are confident in their hiking
ability and want to do their own thing once in the area. We offer track advice and information and pick up
hikers at a pre-arranged time. This way you are able to take
advantage of the network of Department of Conservation huts and
tracks in the area.
- A hinterland tour into
the Galatea Valley and Te Urewera National Park area. This is a day
tour that can be tailored to suit the customer’s needs. The
options that we can take advantage of and visit are a Biodynamic
Vineyard, an Ostrich farm, a production forest operation, and Aniwhenua falls. These are just some examples.
The three products operate on
demand for a minimum of 4 people. We usually operate out of Rotorua but
can organise tours out of Taupo and Whakatane. We are flexible and want
to make our region available and accessible to visitors.
