Oputao is a cosy family marae in Ruatahuna, in the heart of Te Urewera.  The accommodation is traditional marae-style on mattresses, all together in the wharenui (meeting house) with shared bathroom facilities.  Enjoy a night of uniquely Maori hospitality with tramping, horse-trekking, hunting and fishing experiences all available on your doorstep.

Retails rates: $30 per person bed only or $78 per person DBB (bookings essential).  Sleeps up to 30 people.

Situated in the heart of Te Urewera the Ruatahuna Motel provides handy access to the wide range of activities in the region including fishing, hunting, hiking, and horse trekking. Your friendly local hosts Richard and Meriann White also run Ahurei Adventures and can organise any of these activities for you, or can provide a shuttle and vehicle security service for those wanting to explore independently.

The motel has four basic but comfortable units with ensuite bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Each unit sleeps three. Three units have a double bed and a single bed. The fourth unit has three single beds.

Meals can be provided including cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. The motel is also located next door to the local store which stocks a good range of essential supplies and takeaway meals.

Beautiful bush camp nestled amongst native trees with lovely forest views from each of the six private sites.  Facilities include eco-toilets, hot showers and BBQ. BBQ meals and breakfast can be provided by prior arrangement.  Handy for both Whirinaki and Te Urewera activities.

Retails rates: $30 per site for up to 2 people.  $10 per extra adult and $5 per extra child. Price includes 4 person tents, camp stretcher and mattress, sleeping bags, liners and pillows.

White's Cabin is situated on a remote, grassy clearing surrounded by herds of wild deer and the magnificent native forest of Te Urewera.  Accommodation is basic but comfortable bunk-style with share bathroom and kitchen facilities.  Tramping, fishing and hunting are all on your doorstep, or just relax and enjoy the amazing night sky.
